The latest episode of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City reminded us how impactful reality TV can be. Mary Cosby shared an extremely vulnerable conversation with her son Robert Cosby Jr. about his struggles with drug addiction and mental health. Mary showed what a supportive mom looks like – someone who listens, doesn’t judge, and shows up with love.
Many fans were struck by the moment on RHOSLC this week. Viewers and Bravolebs took to social media to praise Mary and Robert for being so raw on camera. After the episode aired, a few of Mary’s RHOSLC stars hopped online to share praise for the important moment.
Mary Cosby has a village
Immediately after the episode, Bravo aired a Watch What Happens Live episode from the recent Bravo Fan Fest in Miami. The segment featured RHOSLC stars Heather Gay, Lisa Barlow, and Meredith Marks, who all agreed with Andy Cohen that the scene was a powerful moment for the show and beyond. “It was completely compelling television, and it kind of brought me back to why we watch reality TV in the first place,” Heather said.
Then, Meredith explained that she didn’t know in real-time about Robert Jr.’s struggles, but she wished she did because she’s able to relate to Mary. I went through a very similar circumstance a couple of years back with my nephew and I feel like I could’ve been a big support to Mary,” Meredith said. “It was very sad to me that I was unable to be there for her. I did note that she seemed different, that something seemed slightly off.”
Angie Katsanevas acknowledges the moment
On Thursday, Angie Katsanevas posted a still image of Mary and Robert Jr. hugging during the latest episode to show her support. “A mother’s love,” the caption reads. “Love to you and Bubbs @mary_m_cosby.” It’s safe to say fans are thankful for Mary and Robert Jr.’s vulnerability.
