Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 14 is off to a great start. Over the past couple of seasons, casting hasn’t been the best. Season 12 included Diana Jenkins, who ended her one season with an ill-advised failed lawsuit. Last season’s one-and-done Annemarie Wiley was amongst the most controversial Real Housewives in years. But this season, casting knocked it out of the park.
Both newbies are friends of Sutton Stracke. Her longtime bestie, Academy Award nominee Jennifer Tilly, is on board as a “friend of” this year. Continuing the 2024 trend of excellent new Real Housewives, Bozoma Saint John already earned fan-favorite status. Meanwhile, Boz’s new BFF, Dorit Kemsley, is practically a new woman this year. Dorit’s split from husband Paul “PK” Kemsley, and friendship breakup with Kyle Richards, lit a fire under her. Here’s why these three are making Season 14 the most gripping RHOBH episodes in years.
Jennifer Tilly is bringing the RICH, but humble, and fun
Jennifer Tilly is rich rich. As in, the necklace she wears in her cast photo is one of the most important pieces of jewelry in history rich. As she shared in the December 3 episode, Jennifer gets royalties from the Simpsons, due to her divorce settlement from co-creator Sam Simon.
But despite being Simpsons wealthy, and an Oscar-nominated movie star, Jennifer doesn’t act like she’s too good for Real Housewives. On the contrary, she compared working with the RHOBH cast to Martin Scorsese. And said being a “friend of” is harder than acting.
You can tell Jennifer’s having a great time, and that energy is infectious. She’s as fun and kooky as many of her characters. In one episode alone, she packed holy water for a trip, displayed her hotel room to look like a store, and roasted Kathy Hilton’s party games. Her famous comedic timing is well on display. Especially with her perfect impression of Dorit.
Bozoma Saint John is bringing the ESTEEM and ACHIEVEMENT
Speaking of rich rich, Boz is the boss. Calling Boz’s career history impressive feels like an understatement. She’s worked with the biggest companies, from Netflix to Uber to Apple to Pepsi. She even negotiated the deal that put Pepsi as the Super Bowl halftime show sponsor. Boz’s incredible success includes knocking down barriers. For instance, she was Netflix’s first Black C-Level executive. She’s been featured in Vogue, Forbes, the New York Times, and Essence. It’s no wonder she retired in her 40s!
Boz is the true definition of a self-made millionaire and a corporate baddie. Her confidence is inspiring. And, despite technically being retired, she uses her expertise to build up others in their careers. As she described in a confessional, Boz is done climbing up the corporate ladder. Instead, she’s building her own ladder from scratch. There’s a reason one of her workshop attendees compared Boz to Beyonce! Much like Dorit, RHOBH viewers fell in love with Boz from the moment she walked into Sutton’s party (looking fabulous, of course) in the Season 14 premiere.
And activated Dorit is bringing the DRAMA
“I’m fed up,” Dorit proclaimed early on this season, adding, “I’m no longer that girl you’ve seen the past two years.” Indeed, the activated Dorit feels like a new woman this year. Or rather, she reminds us of the Housewife we first met way back in Season 7. From the first episode of this season, Dorit’s given us a lot to gasp over and talk about. The scene of her smoking as her separation went public practically broke the Bravo fan internet.
Dorit keeps bringing the drama on and off-screen. In addition to snarky and shady comments about her RHOBH co-stars, Dorit’s fallout with Kyle was years in the making. Most of Kyle’s reasons for being mad at Dorit feel like grasping at straws. And Dorit calls them out as that while standing her ground. For those RHOBH viewers who’ve grown tired of Kyle’s antics, it’s refreshing.
This kind of long-brewing feud makes for a gripping Housewives rivalry. I never thought I’d see so many RHOBH viewers declaring that Dorit is their new favorite. But that’s the power of making great TV!
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Tuesdays on Bravo.
