A wise scholar once said, “You know that it’s our time, These are the best days of our lives, Just raise your glasses high, This one’s for you tonight.” That scholar was Dena Deadly, the voice behind the iconic Vanderpump Rules theme song,
“Raise Your Glass” has been stuck in my head since I first discovered Vanderpump Rules as a sophomore in college in 2018. The show was in its seventh season at the time. Scheana Shay adopted a $1000 penguin for her situationship, and Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright celebrated their engagement. It was a simpler time. I remember thinking it would take me forever to catch up to the current season, but it didn’t. It probably took me two months to breeze through six seasons of wonderful mess. While I was no stranger to reality television, I had never seen something quite like Vanderpump Rules.
The cast of VPR provided us with 11 years of entertainment but now, they’re saying goodbye. On November 26, executive producer Alex Baskin announced the show was being rebooted with a new cast.
In honor of the OG cast and VPR’s legacy, let’s take a trip down memory lane and revisit the show’s greatest moments.
When Jax said ‘I’m the number one guy in the group’ on Vanderpump Rules
Jax’s threatening reminder to Tom Sandoval in Season 4 of Vanderpump Rules will always be one of my favorite moments. Jax did not appreciate Sandoval talking over him while he was giving (misguided) advice to their buddy, Tom Schwartz.
“Dude, stop acting like you’re the number one f*cking guy in this group. I’m the number one guy in this group,” he told Sandoval.
It was such man-child behavior that we had to laugh. The scene also featured a few other iconic quotes, including when Jax told Sandoval, “Shut the f*ck up about your f*cking band.”
When Miami Girl confronted Tom Sandoval
In Season 3 of VPR, Kristen Doute got revenge on Sandoval by flying out a woman who claimed she slept with him in Miami. She was willing to stoop to any level to ruin his new relationship with Ariana Madix. The woman, known as “Miami Girl,” confronted Sandoval at the bar, hoping he would admit to the rendezvous. Sandoval denied sleeping with her, yelling “No we didn’t” in her face at the bar. At the time, viewers thought Ariana believed him, but in the Season 10 finale of VPR, Sandoval revealed he did sleep with Miami Girl and Ariana knew about it. In a sit-down interview with Andy Cohen, Ariana said she and Sandoval weren’t exclusive and she felt a need to protect his reputation.
When James Kennedy called Tom Sandoval ‘A worm with a mustache’ on Vanderpump Rules
The VPR cast hurled several insults at Sandoval and Rachel Leviss in the Season 10 reunion, but the most memorable quote was when James Kennedy called Sandoval “a worm with a mustache.” Fans loved the diss so much they created merch with the line printed on t-shirts, sweaters, and hoodies.
I also have to give an honorable mention to James calling Sandoval a “poo poo head.” It wasn’t the most sophisticated of insults but he got his message across.
When Stassi Schroeder backhanded Kristen Doute
There are few VPR moments more iconic than Stassi Schroeder backhanding Kristen in SUR after finding out she slept with Jax. It was the perfect end to one of the most chaotic seasons of reality television I have ever consumed. The most iconic part was finding out the movie Drive was playing in the background while the two hooked up. How romantic…
When Brittany Cartwright said ‘Rawt in hell’ on Season 6 of Vanderpump Rules
It’s a miracle that Jax and Brittany made it down the aisle after what transpired in the Season 6 episode “Sex, Lies, and Audiotape.” The drama began when Lala Kent showed up to a party at their home armed with audio of Jax’s infamous hookup with Faith Stowers. In the recording, Jax said he would never marry Brittany and he didn’t want children. Lala played the recording for Brittany, who responded by running into the house, telling Jax to “RAWT IN HELL” in her classic southern accent. Somehow, they still tied the knot after this…
When James Kennedy said ‘It’s not about the pasta’ on Vanderpump Rules
James and Lala’s Season 6 fight over Rachel Leviss’ pasta will never not be iconic. The dispute began after Lala admitted she ate some of James’ girlfriend’s pasta during a night out. The confession upset James, who replied, “You’ve always been a b*tch towards Raquel.” He also threw a dig at Lala’s relationship with Randall, which led to a big fight.
When #Scandoval broke the internet
The Season 10 finale of Vanderpump Rules was perhaps the most memorable episode in the series’ 11-year run. It captured the aftermath of the scandal that took the internet by storm. Fans watched with bated breath as the group uncovered Sandoval and Rachel’s months-long affair. It was all anyone could talk about.
Vanderpump Rules is streaming on Peacock.
