Fans of Southern Charm are watching Season 10 knowing that JT Thomas quit the show suddenly and without explanation. So now it’s a matter of watching his demise, so to speak. And it’s happening already on episode one. Cast member Rodrigo Reyes reacted to the cringe-worthy moments during a recent interview.
JT decided to gift the cast canes during their outing to a horse race. The gesture fell flat with Patricia Altschul, who was the last to receive her gift. Perhaps had she known that JT was giving them out to all the cast, it would have made a difference.
But then there was the footage where Craig Conover claimed to the group that JT called the Southern Charm matriarch a b*tch. It was this major faux-pas that Rodrigo reacted to. It was a poorly thought-out statement that rocked JT’s standing with the most respected member of the show.
Rodrigo Reyes called the incident “shocking”
Rodrigo is entering his sophomore season with a keen eye to avoid the drama. The interior designer has more important matters in his life to attend to, such as his engagement to Tyler Dugas.
But it was hard not to react to what Craig claimed JT said about Patricia. Rodrigo told Decider the whole situation was “a mess.”
“I think that was something that was done with just a few people around. I wasn’t there for that. But I think it was like just a couple of the guys out golfing. And that’s completely shocking for that to be said, especially on camera. It sounds like a very foolish thing. It’s a fool’s mistake to say that. I guess we’ll have to see how that all plays out. It’s a mess,” he said.
Clearly, it “plays out” in the worst possible way for JT. Rodrigo reacted with confusion to his surprise resignation, calling it “very vague.”
“I’m still just trying to understand what was going on there because even when I have asked him directly what the situation is, it’s still very vague,” he explained. “I feel like at this point, I wish I had more information. To me, [it] was a complete shock because I didn’t see that happening. In my opinion, he liked being in the mix just as much as anybody else, if not any more. We all saw him at the reunion last year. He was Miss Sassy. So I was a little shocked. Hopefully, down the road, we can get some more clear answers about what’s really going on. Maybe it’s just a thing where he steps back for a moment and he figures it out and hopefully, we can all watch him coming and telling us what the deal is.”
