Tom Schwartz has been facing a lot of turmoil recently. The restaurant that he opened with Tom Sandoval, Schwartz & Sandy’s is closing. Not only that, but Vanderpump Rules announced an entirely new cast for Season 12.
Tom has had to accept the situation. But it’s not all bad news. The reality TV star will appear on the VPR spinoff, The Valley, for its second season. Still, Tom thinks the Bravo network could have let them down a little more gently.
Schwartz thinks there should have been “one more season” with the veteran cast
“I’m at peace with it. I kind of knew [the announcement] was coming. But I don’t necessarily love the way [season 11] ended,” Tom told Us Weekly. “It was a little heavy, a little toxic, a little fractured.”
Ideally, there would have been “one more season” with the original cast. But Ariana Madix seemed ready to move on. And James Kennedy is more focused on his DJing career. Lala Kent and Scheana Shay may have been interested in participating, despite also making appearances on The Valley.
“But I mean, the network made the right decision, I guess,” Tom continued. “And we got 11 seasons. That’s insane. I’m so grateful for that. So I have nothing to gripe or complain about. It was probably 11 of the best years of my life. I got to travel the world. And yeah, man, it was exhilarating.”
Still, the TomTom co-owner is feeling “nostalgic” and “sentimental” about saying goodbye to his gig of over a decade.
“I still talk to everyone — mostly everybody. Everyone’s thriving, everyone’s doing their thing,” he shared.
“I pop in. You’ll probably see some cameos,” Tom teased of his involvement on The Valley. “I hang out with all those people.”
Perhaps organically moving cast members over to The Valley was the deciding factor. Maybe Bravo executives wanted cast members who worked at SUR for Vanderpump Rules.
Vanderpump Rules can be streamed on Peacock.
