Nicole Richie has had her share of scary run-ins with the paparazzi. In fact, one such interaction ended up with her having to go to the hospital.
She was much younger at the time and if that interaction taught her anything it was to set healthy boundaries when it comes to dealing with the press and those around her.

Nicole appeared on a recent episode of the podcast Call Her Daddy. The Simple Life alum talked about her wildest interaction with the press. She also shared how she struggled with privacy and boundaries early in her career.
“Once I was hospitalized,” she shared. “I got crashed into. My son (Sparrow) was like six weeks old. But he wasn’t in the car, thank God!”
She was then asked how she felt about all the attention she received during that time in her life. Nicole shared that it was challenging. She was struggling to advocate for herself and her privacy.
“It was very hard to implement boundaries because the world was not really acting like you deserved that at all,” she admitted. “I was so young and didn’t know how to stand up for myself like that.”
She added, “I accepted a lot more, which I think is very common for your 20s.” She admits that with age comes wisdom and there are many things that she accepted in her youth that would not fly with her today. She’s learned how to create boundaries for herself.
This is good because Nicole and BFF Paris Hilton have brought their brand of humor back to the small screen. Their new special entitled Paris and Nicole: The Encore brings the besties back together to revisit their Simple Life roots and work on a brand new opera based on their original song Sanasa.
The limited special series is sure to bring renewed interest in Nicole but she’s more than capable of handling the paparazzi now. As for interest in her own home, there isn’t much from her kids. Nicole shared that her teens mostly give her eye rolls when they come across clips of her on TikTok.
“It’s on brand with how they see me in general,” she said.
