Golden Bachelorette stars Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple are taking things slow. The pair got engaged in the finale of the dating show but are letting their families get to know each other before walking down the aisle.
It’s a solid plan and a good way of learning more about one another and how their lives will work outside of the show. Besides, the Bachelor franchise doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to marriage. Taking it easy is a prudent step.
Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple are settling into their lives before the wedding
An insider exclusively told Life and Style that the pair aren’t in any rush to wed. “Joan wants to stay in Maryland and has said that from the get-go, while Chock is in Kansas. They are looking for an apartment in New York which will be their rendezvous point,” the insider shared.
“Joan and Chock think it’ll be romantic. They want to try this out and let their families get to know each other before they take the next step,” they added.
It seems like a wise choice. After all, Golden Bachelor couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist headed straight down the aisle and filed for divorce just three months later. It certainly doesn’t inspire confidence. So Joan and Chock want to do things differently.
The couple has also been open about how neither plans on moving from their respective homes but are adamant they can make it work, especially with their shared place in NYC. “I don’t consider it a negative thing,” Joan said. “When I have something great going on my person could come be with me, and vice versa. And we’ll spend two or three weeks with each other every month. The logistics shouldn’t be what stops you from being together.”
Alongside logistics, the pair want to let their families get to know one another first.
“I felt a little nervous that we were throwing everybody together,” Joan told US Weekly. “Holiday times are kind of stressful anyway and then to introduce, ‘Here’s your new family, here’s your new stepbrothers and sisters. It could be uncomfortable. But from night one, it went great. We’ve been very lucky our kids get along great.”
So no wedding bells for now, but hopefully more longevity in the future.
