Despite an ongoing conflict with Kyle Richards, Dorit Kemsley was fine to take on Sutton Stracke as well. The cast were on a sprinter van ride during the recent trip to Oceanside. And the boutique owner reflected on that fight during a recent podcast interview.
It all started the night before at dinner. Kyle and Dorit fought about their friendship. The next day, Sutton suggested that co-star Erika Jayne should have spoken to the group, rather than under her breath to Kyle. It seems like Sutton was defending Dorit, but the latter veered off topic and became defensive.
Dorit somehow turned the conflict into a critique of what she said about her friendship with Teddi Mellencamp. It was exhausting just to watch.
Sutton Stracke thinks that Dorit Kemsley “missed my point” regarding Erika Jayne
Sutton quipped to Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast that the “devil lives” in sprinter vans according to Real Housewives lore.
“A fire was lit,” Sutton said. She then suggested that the conflict between her and Dorit was far from over.
The Sutton Brands founder added, “I think we’re going to have to wait and see.”
As the cast dynamic slid into chaos, Sutton initiated a sisterhood bonding experience. She hoped that her co-stars could speak frankly with one another without fearing reaction. A “safe space” for RHOBH stars.
“I think that Dorit kind of missed my point, which was really about Erika whispering to Kyle, ‘That’s not what she said [about Teddi].’ And the whole point of [my] sisterhood [exercise] was that we can say what we want when we want to without fear that you’re going to be ostracized,” Sutton told the podcast hosts.
She explained, “That part was where I always kind of have [had] a problem, because I’ve said things and then people turn on me and we’ve seen that with me a lot [on the show].”
Sutton wanted her co-stars to speak freely and without “looming fear”
Sutton wanted to facilitate a feeling of transparency within the group. She was not making any specific points about Dorit and Teddi. That’s been left to Garcelle…
“I just want all of us to be able to say what we feel and without this looming fear that we’re going to not be spoken to and that was kind of the point,” she explained. “So when Erika did the whisper, I wanted to bring it up. That’s where I was going. It had nothing to do with what Dorit had said [about Teddi].”
Sutton was on edge during the ride. Viewers did not see her stress over losing her credit card. But that only added to her frustration. Maybe the bad juju of sprinter vans had something to do with it as well.
“I was a mess. I could not find my driver’s license and I could not find my American Express card and I was about to go on a trip to Houston,” she revealed. “And I needed to get to my plane in LA! So I [got] worked up.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills returns Tuesday, January 7 at 8/7c on Bravo.
