Some of the ladies of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City want to pull rank with Meredith Marks for her living situation. As if growing up in the area is an issue of seniority over an original cast member.
But the issue of Meredith and Seth Marks’ living situation repeatedly comes up. Namely, that they rent, and have been doing so since RHOSLC premiered in 2020. The jewelry designer had to respond to the issue again during a recent episode. And she chose to speak again during the After Show.
Meredith Marks rents because she wants “no responsibility”
“Meredith, you have an interesting perspective. Let’s talk rentals in Park City,” said a producer during the recent After Show episode.
Producers included a clip of the four homes that the Marks family lived in while filming RHOSLC. It’s clear that Meredith has a penchant for modern residences.
“I have three residences right now. I’m far from homeless, and yes, I rent,” Meredith answered. “Times are tough. My ‘friends’ who think that’s so offensive should probably be apologizing to all the renters in the United States and worldwide.”
Meredith explained that her marital situation with Seth at the time dictated their rental situation.
“As you guys know, Seth and I were on the verge of a divorce. We had sold our house in Park City shortly before that — we didn’t think we were staying married,” she explained. “After that, our kids were all out of the house. We were empty nesters. I’m an avid traveler, and I really just wanted no responsibility and no ties down.”
The Meredith Marks Caviar founder is known for frequent travels. She and Seth only spend half the year in Utah.
“I spend four to six months of the year in Park City, and I spend the rest of the year between New York, LA, a little bit of Miami, Europe, and a little bit of Asia sometimes,” the RHOSLC star said. “That’s kind of my life. It’s not so bad.”
Meredith has found the most “peaceful” part of town
Meredith and Seth are using their mobility to their advantage and living in different areas of the city. The house from Season 2 was their favorite by far.
“I loved the views, for starters. It was like, major,” she said. “It wasn’t as big a property as my house this past season, it was on a large enough property that I didn’t feel like anyone was on top of me. I liked that speakeasy office. This whole house was my vibe.”
But Meredith’s favorite part of town is Park City, for which she paid a “huge premium” to live in. Heather Gay thinks the “lowkey” atmosphere is ideal for the fashionista
“I have fun in Salt Lake, but I love Park City,” she explained. “There’s just something about the whole ski resort vibe that is very zen for me. It’s very peaceful.”
Meredith added, “It’s a mountain town, but it’s high fashion.”
The Marks’ current rental property is ideal in its location. However, the Bravolebrity would change the style of the house and it’s “very, very difficult” to find rentals in a modern style.
“Hands down, over anywhere else, that size of a piece of land in Park Meadows is just phenomenal and not that common. But I’d like to have that other house on it,” Meredith explained.
“We might have to build,” she said of designing a dream home. “We’re actually talking about it. I really don’t want to, but we might do it.”
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City returns January 8 at 9/8c on Bravo.
