The newbies on Southern Charm this season are really hitting home runs. Each has shown up knowing their purpose is to bring the ratings higher. But perhaps the most interesting of them all is Salley Carson. Between her blond locks and super cute puppy, Boots, she is everything I aim to be when I grow up. So I have to wonder, could Salley be my new muse?
What does Salley Carson do for a living?
Salley is no stranger to reality TV. In fact, she has been around the block once before. Before joining Season 2 of Southern Hospitality as the villain, she appeared on The Bachelor. Salley joined Season 26 in hopes of finding her one true love, but shortly before the show started, she decided to call it quits. Can’t say I blame her. Who honestly wants to fight for a man’s attention? Not Salley. She was supposed to be getting married that same weekend. She told cameras at the time, “My heart is just not in the place where I can do this. And I feel so bad about that. My heart is just not ready.” It all just hit too close to home for the pretty face.
But Salley really makes her money as a Hybrid Robotic and Core Spine Representative. During a recent episode, Salley shared what it was like to have a day in the life. She starts by waking up at 4 a.m. to let her pup out, exercise, and then is at the hospital by 7 a.m. She currently works for Medtronic Spine & Biologics, a global healthcare technology leader that provides educational resources and surgical technologies for spine care. I have to admit I think it is pretty cool to see Salley owning her life like the boss she is.
Salley Carson is the perfect pot stirrer
Everything in Charleston feels a bit incestuous when it comes to dating. As Southern Charm fans learned, Salley had once dated, Gaston Rojas, who is currently dating Taylor Ann Green. Details of their relationship came to light on the newest episode, and I for one, was proud of Salley speaking her truth. She had no problem stirring the pot as she spilled the beans to Paige DeSorbo and Madison LeCroy. She noted that Taylor’s relationship with Gaston “overlapped with me a little bit. He met my family on July 4th. He was on my dad’s boat. And then two weeks later, he was … we were like hot and heavy for a minute.”
Salley seemed composed and unbothered as she added, “He told me to keep his name out of my f*cking mouth. I was like, ‘Listen, I’m keeping a lot to myself.’ It proves to me that nothing has changed.” I loved how Salley had no problem throwing Taylor and her new beau under the bus. In the previews for next week’s episode, it looks like Salley actually doubles down on her thoughts after Tay confronts her. Yes, girl!
Salley Carson is a breath of fresh air
When it comes to Salley, I keep singing the Miss Congeniality song “She has style, she has grace…” To me, Salley represents a mix of Kathryn Dennis and Cameran Eubanks. She is clearly intelligent and works hard to maintain her lifestyle. But at the same time, she isn’t above a bit of jesting aimed at some of her castmate’s expense. I think Salley will be quite the addition to the series, and for now, it helps that none of the other guys have fallen for her. Though I am pretty sure she could handle herself.
I like what Salley is bringing to the table. She is confident and isn’t like some of the earlier ladies who just wanted male attention. Watching her interact with the men and women is a breath of fresh air since she doesn’t have anything to lose. She knows what she is bringing to the table and won’t be kept in the corner. So here’s to you, Salley. I hope you can keep the Charmers on track without it becoming your new day job.
Southern Charm is available to stream on Peacock.
