Following three divorces and estrangements from several of his children, Sister Wives dad Kody Brown is adjusting to a monogamous life.
In the most recent Sister Wives episode, Kody’s former wife number three, Christine Brown, was preparing for her wedding. After leaving Kody, she had her dream wedding to David Woolley in October 2023. Two of Kody’s other three wives, Janelle Brown and Meri Brown, also left him shortly after Christine departed in 2021.
Preparing to chop some trees that were blocking his view at the home he shares with remaining wife Robyn Brown, Kody cheerily announced, “I’m a monogomist now!”
Kody Brown’s philosophy about Christine’s remarriage
“So there’s a new rule that Robyn made, and because I’m a monogamist, my wife gets to make rules, right?” Kody shared. “So she’s like, ‘Don’t drop a tree until you’ve removed the last tree you dropped.'”
When a producer asked how Kody was feeling about Christine’s then-upcoming wedding, he was surprisingly optimistic.
“I’m really excited for her,” the father of 18 admitted. “I’ve only met David once, and everything that I can gather is it’s moved pretty fast, but sometimes you just know.”
“I hope they’re happy,” he added. “And I hope someday the time comes where we’re just comfortable being around each other.” Kody and Christine share six children, so the chances that they’ll run into each other at some point are high.
Kody admitted that Christine “left with a purpose,” as she “wanted to find her soul mate.”
“It is weird, because you know she’s my ex-wife,” he mused. “But … that’s none of my business anymore, and it’s more like kudos.”
Kody is adjusting to a monogamous life
After the shock of three of his four wives leaving him in quick succession, Kody now realizes there’s “a lot of water under the bridge and it wasn’t all bad.” At the time it was “tough” on him because he felt his life as a polygamist was “mostly good.” Obviously, his three exes don’t share those sentiments.
Kody however is focusing on his future with Robyn and their five kids.
“It’s a real different world, the world that I have with Robyn and our children,” Kody admitted. “It’s kind, it’s pleasant, it’s beautiful, it’s small … I think I need a lot of attention. It’s been different to be in a place where I don’t get as much attention.”
“But my children will always be my children and the door will always be open to them,” he continued. Even though several of his children are now estranged from their dad, “They’ve got to come through that door. I’m going to be holding a hand out for that.”
“But I’m [also] going to be holding this hand that’s next to me,” he added. “And I won’t let go of that hand. I will not cut off Robyn to have a relationship with my children.”
