Kyle Richards is the last original star remaining on the cast of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. For 14 seasons, she has flung wide her doors, showing off her family, her pets, and her marriage to Mauricio Umansky. But now, these two have separated, and the chaos their split has created has caused Kyle to shut down during filming. As Kyle stars in a reality television series, you can likely imagine how detrimental her silence is to the storylines.
As a reality television star, Kyle should carry a plot that centers around her everyday narratives. But because her everyday happenings are complicated, her walls are going up. However, many of her costars are also walking through challenging times. And yet, they are continuing to mention it all on RHOBH.
In Season 14, her lips are locking tighter than ever, and on the things that she has shared, we still have questions. But Kyle is not sharing, and sharing is caring, so perhaps it is best if Kyle decides to leave RHOBH. Kyle has already taken a week-long pause from filming once during Season 14, so a longer break might help her get her head back into this game, although she might even realize that she enjoys living that unfilmed life. Either way, an actual departure might be the best card for Kyle to play following Season 14.
RHOBH needs stars who are willing to share their whole truths, which Kyle Richards is not
For years, viewers have speculated about Mauricio. Yet, time after time, all affair-related narratives enter into a no-fly zone for Kyle during filming. Again, we can understand why Kyle wants to shut down the gossip surrounding the father of her children, but her silence is unfair to her costars.
In Season 13, Kyle grew close to the musician Morgan Wade. Yet, we still do not know the depths of their relationship, as Kyle is unwilling to address this on RHOBH.
Again, this is a personal matter. Kyle can let her heart proceed in any way that she sees fit. But she should be ready for her costars to address her circumstances while their cameras are up without letting her defensive barriers pop another vein in her forehead.
Bless Garcelle Beauvais. Garcelle is trying to get Kyle to free her mind so the rest can follow, saying, “Do whatever the f*ck you want to do. Be whoever you want to be. If you want to be a lesbian, be a lesbian.” Instead of moving this narrative along with a response, Kyle sat annoyed, later labeling Garcelle as an asshole.
Meanwhile, Dorit Kemsely and her man, PK Kemsely, are also separated. Yet, Dorit is filming her story via details upon details, per usual. Is it fair for Dorit to spill and later sink in the media while Kyle remains tight-lipped with fewer negative headlines? No.
Likewise, Erika Jayne has endured a lot. But Erika still shares what she can via RHOBH. If Kyle is not ready to do the same, we get it, but a break might be her best bet following this season.
If Kyle Richards refuses to share her life, her storylines are dead in the water on RHOBH
The key to a longstanding reality television series involves stars willing to show up and show out for filming. Whatever you are walking through, you must address it. Otherwise, what good is your character in your series?
Dorit and her cigarette are working overtime this season. She is coming for Kyle, who she feels is a bad friend. Dorit is also giving us the 411 on her therapy sessions with PK.
Across town, Erika is reinventing herself and her home while still being transparent about her struggles with her estranged ex, Tom Girardi. Meanwhile, Sutton Stracke is giving us everything from Southern Belle to Southern Hell this season, trying (and failing) to bring this cast together like sisters with many misters.
Newbie Bozoma Saint John is also clocking in. Already, Boz has opened up about the death of her husband and her struggles of being a single parent.
Yet, Kyle is giving us very little. And for the details she has shared, her facts seem purposefully misconstrued. When we learned that Kyle had been texting PK, Kyle brushed this off as memes and jokes. As we all know now, Kyle and PK were texting a lot more than she let on, so why did Kyle choose to gloss over this potential storyline on RHOBH?
Kyle has always been careful about what she puts out there for the masses to consume. But if Kyle remains unwilling to mention most of her mess, her storylines will likely dry up on RHOBH. Therefore, it would be better for Kyle to go out on a somewhat high now than to stay onboard a ship she cannot help keep afloat.
Overall, Kyle Richards could benefit from a mental health break via a departure from RHOBH
Separations are not easy. Kyle’s is all the harder since the tabloids are continuously snapping images of Mauricio out on the town, presumably living his best life sans his estranged wife.
In addition, Kyle is also facing a soon-to-be-empty nest. Her daughters are growing up and launching into this messy world right before our eyes. Therefore, Kyle has to start figuring out who she is and what she wants from her second chapter of life. But can she do this while surrounded by her costars who want her to spill all her inner turmoils while the cameras are in her face?
Even still, Kyle is trying to give us something. She has turned to the gym and sobriety, trying to clear her mind and her body as she starts healing from her real-life narratives. We have loved her sobriety journey.
For the sake of her mental health, this OG queen could benefit from a pause. Fame and inner peace rarely arrive hand-in-hand, as Kyle can likely attest. Consequently, I feel it might be best for Kyle to depart from filming on RHOBH. Even if only for one season.
