Sometimes, I wish I could say that the housewives were seasonal…like the olden days TGIF on ABC. You have a season, you move on to reruns, lather, rinse, repeat. Of course, Bravo and Andy Cohen have made sure that there are housewives for the viewers all year long. No hiatus. No break. All housewives, all the time. I can complain about it knowing that I'd be even more upset if it wasn't this way.
So let's commence…the Real Housewives of New York had their finale this week, which means we are going to be subjected to reunion upon reunion (although not upon THIRD reunion, as they haven't quite reached RHONJ status yet). Let's check in with my beloved drama-free New York (non) Housewife to see what she has to say about her freshman season with the Cramona. Ladies and gentlemen, Carole Radziwill….
My new, most favorite housewife ever in the history of housewives, Carole is dishing on her first foray into the drama. Now I realize that not everyone is a Carole fan. To that, I say, WHY NOT!?!? She is drama-free, full of class, and calls it like she sees it. I could only wish more women in this franchise came from the Carole school of thought. Truth be told, I want her to put on a bra and be my best friend. And we so would be. 🙂

Speaking with News Day New York, Carole says, "I think, [regarding] my presence, I have a good sense of humor about it. I feel like sometimes I'm in a comedy and the other ladies think they're in a drama. And I think the audience members can relate to that a little bit."
The always intelligent and forever humorous Carole doesn't think to much into her RHONY persona, and for that I applaud her. Viewers may call her out for talking about her cast mates during her talking head interviews, but I ask, what are those talking head interviews for??? Why, to dish on your cast mates, of course!
Carole has managed to do what no other woman in the history of the franchise has been able to do…she has avoided the crazy. I must add, she's done it with class and without a care. Can I start a fan club? She tells the site, "I made a promise to myself I wasn't going to do anything in front of the cameras that I wouldn't do normally in my real life. There is the pressure to step up and create drama, and I just never did it. … My position is, I don't get in the middle of two grown women fighting." How can you not totally respect this woman?
The (legitimate!) princess continues, "A lot of the fights, you're hearing about secondhand, and it's really hard to figure out who said [what] to [whom], until you watch it, and then, you’re like, ‘Holy [cow]!' "
I just adore that she tried to be the peacemaker and maintain her role as the middle ground. I didn't think I'd ever live to see the day when a housewife could be so elegant and so fabulous. Am I being too biased? Carole doesn't blame editing like all the other housewives, saying, "There's some 'ouch' moments when I'd say something goofy; I've thought, 'Ugh, I wish I didn't say that. There's a lot of talk about the editing, but I think they can only edit what's on tape. I thought I had a lot more funny jokes that didn't end up in the show, so maybe I think I'm funnier than I am."
Her favorite moment of the season was perhaps one of the most low key. She enjoyed just getting drunk with Heather Thomson in a Chelsea bar. Holla! Carole recalls, "We were both just like, 'Oh, my God. What the hell happened? It was really fun. Heather is just really down-to-earth and a great girl, and it was fun because it was completely real. We just sat there, and just had shot after shot after shot of cherry bombs, and we got so drunk. Those moments for me — I looked drunk, and it was very clear that we had been overserved — but it was real, and it was just fun to do. I'm not trying to pretend I'm someone I'm not. I'm a girl that likes to go to a bar every once in a while, and get hammered and have a good time." I really, really, really want to be biffles with her!
Of her initial reaction to being a reality star, Carole shares, "It was completely out of my comfort zone. I mean, journalism is my first love. It was always a dream that I had, growing up, to get out of my small town and live in the big city and work in ABC News. So, that was [my] first time experiencing being on the other side of the camera. It took a lot of getting used to."
Unfortunately (for me!), Carole is undecided as to whether she'll return next season. She explains, "It really depends on what's going on in my life. I have to really think about it. We just filmed the reunion, and we just finished the season, so we have a little time to think about what we're going to do, going forward."
However, she doesn't regret her time on the show, admitting, "It was hard work, challenging and — in the end — it was worthwhile." Oh, and did I mention she dog sits for her pal Susan Sarandon??
Hollywood Life is confirming that there will be a season six of the Manhattan ladies, although there are rumors of another shake-up similar to what happened with this season. Of course, Sonja Morgan is already saying she'll be back with a vengance…probably whether Bravo asks her or not!
