When Austen Kroll first appeared on Southern Charm, I actually liked him. He fit in well with Shep Rose and Craig Conover and came across as a true gentleman. Fast forward to his gaslighting of Madison LeCroy after he was caught cheating on her in a threesome. Naturally, my opinion changed. But Season 10 proves to me that something is under his overly quaffed hair. During the Season 9 reunion, he called out JT Thomas for not being the perfect guy, and it seems his sentiments are finally being vindicated.
Austen Kroll spotted JT Thomas from a mile away
There was no use crying over spilled milk or a lack of friendship when it came to Austen befriending the new Charmer. The entire season showed the two riling one another up. It didn’t help that JT had a huge crush on Taylor Ann Green, Austen’s BFF. And it definitely didn’t help when it was revealed that Austen and Taylor had shared a cheeky kiss. Cut to the season finale, where all hell broke lose in front of Whitney Sudler Smith’s newly redone mancave and home bar. Both Southern Charm stars had reached their boiling point, and fists were flying.
JT peacocked a bit too much, and Austen decided to push the property developer off his metaphorical pedestal. The reunion was no better, especially after JT told everyone he would be delivering his “first f*ckboy exorcism.” Austen was tired of JT making false accusations against him and being two-faced. However, according to the Trop Hop owner, he was never surprised by JT’s action. Austen later told JT, “It’s your first season, so no one knows what a piece of shit you are. We know who you are.” I hate when there is a chance that Austen could be right.
Venita Aspen confirms relationship with JT Thomas
While on a podcast, Venita Aspen broke down her relationship timeline with JT and it didn’t cast the Charleston resident in a good light. She noted she was “supposed to hang out with his mom and him. The trailer drops, and then you know he starts acting crazy and falls off the face of the earth. I think he was nervous to see how he was going to be portrayed this year.” When the host asked, “So wait, were you guys kind of dating by the time the trailer dropped?” V’s answer was illuminating.
“Yeah. Then he popped up with a girlfriend on Instagram,” shared Venita. She added, “I think he thinks he played me. That’s the funny part because I haven’t had my turn yet. You wait until you’re back in front of me. And I get to say my peace to you. You actually got played here, not me.” For the fashion influencer, the whole courtship was “jarring, and I think I am still kind of digesting.” Venita’s confession might be the break in the case to prove that Austen was right all along.
JT Thomas quits Southern Charm
Shortly before the premiere of Southern Charm Season 10, JT made a shocking announcement. He wrote on Instagram, “It comes with a heavy heart to share that I have resigned from Southern Charm. Yesterday, I informed Bravo that I would not participate in the 2-3 remaining green room interviews.” His statement continued, “I no longer wish to participate in any way moving forward with the TV show. I will leave it at that for now. While I work on the next steps to recover both physically and mentally from what has been an extremely challenging and exhausting year.”
However, what annoyed fans was that in the blink of an eye, he had announced he had a new girlfriend. Her name was Ali Pereless and she hailed from New Jersey. There’s nothing like a Yank coming in to upset a bunch of Southerners. We quickly learned that Ali worked at South City PR as an Account Executive. And she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communication from High Point University in 2018. In his soft launch post, the JT wrote, “Long overdue.” Again, I hate it when Austen might be right. And even though I’ve been rooting for JT since his debut season, it seems that he might have burned a few bridges.
