I wasn’t sure about adding Rebecca Minkoff to the Real Housewives of New York, but then again, I wasn’t sure about the entire reboot. The idea of replacing our beloved RHONY women unsettled most of us. However, the brunette has proved quite the addition to the famed Bravo series, however slow a burn. Rebecca has officially won me over. And I think it’s time she was given a full-time apple to match the rest of the ladies.
Rebecca Minkoff had a few reservations
While on Two Ts in a Pod, Rebecca shed some light on the reason why she wasn’t given a full-time position for Season 15. She revealed, “I guess TBD. My husband is a little bit on the fence about that, which is why I wasn’t a full-time castmate to begin with. We do have young kids. So I think he and I have just been weighing if there is a round two. What does it look like?” Viewers have gotten to know Rebecca’s family dynamic during the most recent season. And it’s safe to say she is kept on her toes.
The newbie is relatable even though she might rub elbows with Tom Cruise. Most viewers could understand the need for their own bed when constantly bombarded by little children, too. But Rebecca is balancing her work life, new TV gig, and mom life pretty well thus far. The fashion designer added, “I would have been more vocal at times. And stated opinions more strongly in the moment. Again, I want to support women; I want to see them do well, so unless I have a real beef with someone, I wasn’t just going to throw shade just to throw shade.” What I have appreciated about Rebecca is her ability to watch the group undetected. She has figured out her opinions about almost everyone. And finally began to express her views.
Rebecca Minkoff has earned her stripes on RHONY
Even though Brynn Whitfield might have thought the newbie was a pushover, she couldn’t have been more wrong. After poking Rebecca over and over again, the Nordstrom Rack comments finally broke her. It was thoroughly enjoyable to watch Brynn get a taste of her own medicine. Rebecca made sure to hold the mirror up high when she finally chose to clap back at her frenemy.
She even took to her Instagram to call Brynn’s bad behavior out. She stated “I have experienced so much hardship and stress and REAL problems in building a brand the last 20 years, that JV stuff didn’t phase me. It’s all perspective.” And that is one thing the new Big Apple star brings to the series: perspective. She is opening up about her life and Scientology, even if it is only breadcrumbs. But she is opening up viewers’ eyes to the fact that there is more out there than photo shoots and looking for rich husbands.
Rebecca Minkoff is more than her clothing brand
Back in October 2024, Rebecca spoke to Style Caster about the reason she had chosen to participate in the Real Housewives of New York. Firstly, she wanted to share her East Coast personality and expand the audience of her collection. She told the outlet “I looked at how [the brand] has been in touch with our customer from the beginning—I realized these people have grown up with me. So I thought, if I can show [them] another dimension of myself as an entertainer, a prankster, a girl’s girl – that just establishes more closeness to my customer.”
The RHONY star added, “Hopefully if I’m edited correctly, you’ll see that I’m a peacemaker and the one who’s constantly trying to get us to get along.” I wouldn’t say that Becks is the peacekeeper. She did orchestrate a pretty devious prank that involved her being pregnant with another man’s baby. But again, this is just another reason why she needs to be given a full-time role. Even though that particular prank might have been a miss, fans know she has more to offer.
