Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Kim Richards surprised fans in LA.
It was a rare public appearance for the former child star, who has been fighting a highly publicized battle with sobriety.
Kim also spoke with podcaster David Yontef, while at The Hollywood Show and he recapped their chat on his Behind the Velvet Rope podcast.
Kim Richards surprises fans at an “Old Hollywood” convention
On his podcast, David mentioned running into Kim at the convention. “Let’s not forget Kim Richards is an actress,” he said. “There are people that are very huge fans of that [film] and all [her] other work.”
The podcaster expressed surprise at seeing Kim at the convention, due to the recent struggles in her personal life. In September, several outlets reported that the Richards family cut ties with Kim following her alleged relapse with alcohol.
In October, younger sister Kyle Richards told Access Hollywood that the whole family has been behind Kim throughout her troubles. “I’m supporting her like I would any other time that my sister’s gone through a difficult time,” she said. “You know my family very much sticks together in these times, even though it’s obviously difficult and challenging.”
Kathy Hilton also told People that Kim was “doing well” and would join her sisters for the holidays.
Kim is living in Florida these days
David was surprised to see Kim at the fan event. “Kim Richards is just a sweet, kind, gentle woman, right? Like a really lovely energy,” he said. “So, I just want to preface this by saying, I really love Kim, okay?”
He added that Kim’s friends had urged her to make a statement about all the negative headlines, but she didn’t think she needed to do that. She also shared that she hadn’t spoken to either Kyle or Kathy in a long time.
The RHOBH alum added that she “loves living in Florida” with one of her best friends. It wasn’t clear how long she’d been there or if she had any plans to return to California.
