James Kennedy Reveals He’s Been Sober Since DV Arrest

James Kennedy is again making some major life changes. The Vanderpump Rules star recently shared that he’s been sober for 48 days.

That’s about how long it’s been since James was arrested. Last month, police were dispatched to his Burbank, California home on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. Arrest logs revealed that officers responded to a call about a dispute between James and a woman – James’ now former live-in girlfriend, Ally Lewber.

DJ James shared a gym selfie in a January 28 Instagram Story. He was clad in all black and simply captioned it, “48 days sober.”

This comes after James’ December arrest following an allegedly boozy evening at Kathy Hilton’s holiday party. Police responded to James’s home after a call about an argument between James and an unnamed woman. A witness claimed that James grabbed the woman, but officers reported no visible injuries when they arrived. He was taken into custody and released on $20,000 bail. It was recently reported that James won’t face charges for the incident.

Following his arrest, James addressed the situation publicly, letting fans know he was making an effort to change. He shared his commitment to personal growth, saying, “I am dedicated to focusing on my sobriety, personal growth, and making meaningful changes in my life.”

Ally also spoke out, making it clear that while their argument involved his drinking, she was not physically harmed. “I’m relieved that prosecutors decided not to file charges,” she said, adding that she fully supports James’ decision to get sober. However, the incident took a toll on their relationship. Ally moved out of their shared home shortly after the ordeal, and the two have broken up.

This isn’t James’ first time dealing with sobriety. VPR fans may remember that he previously quit drinking for over two years before eventually relapsing. Now, after this recent wake-up call, he seems committed to getting back on track.

Reaching 48 days sober is a significant milestone. Hopefully, James has success this go around for the safety of himself and those around him.
