Nikki Garcia is looking forward to the future. But she wants to “get her groove” back before dipping a toe back in the dating pool. After all, she’s been through quite a bit and wants to feel comfortable before putting herself back out there.
It’s been approximately four months since she divorced Artem Chigvintsev, her Dancing with the Stars former flame, and Nikki is facing her insecurities. She spoke with US Weekly about her “mom bod” and how she was open to dating again but probably not anytime soon.
It might take a while for Nikki to feel confident about her body enough to date again
“I can definitely see myself falling in love again,” she shared. But she was sure that it won’t be in the immediate future.
Nikki added, “I think it’s going to take me a while to get back to that place and also just to feel confident about my body.”
She clarified further, “I feel great, but it’s, like, when I’m naked, you just kind of sadly start to dissect yourself,” the former wrestling champ who previously went by Nikki Bella explained. “What if the person isn’t a dad and he doesn’t understand a ‘mom bod?’”
That’s a legitimate concern Nikki feels. She welcomed her son Matteo in July 2020 and is worried that if she dates someone younger, he’ll think, “Oh, she has an older body.”
Nikki also worries that her boobs “kind of sag from nursing.” She feels she needs to be in a good place for dating. “Mama needs her groove back first for herself,” she said.
While she’s open to dating, one thing she’s sure of is that she won’t be getting married again and won’t have more children. “I don’t ever want to sign paperwork again,” Nikki explained. “I don’t want to be legally bound.”
That’s understandable. Nikki has been through a lot. She and Artem wed in 2022. All seemed fine until the couple faced a domestic violence arrest in 2024. The charges were ultimately dropped and the couple reached a co-parenting agreement in November 2024.
Nikki shared that co-parenting is really hard and very emotional. She’s just glad Matteo is happy and not affected.
