There’s no better combo than Sweet Tea and Reality Tea, so when we had the chance to sit down with Married to Medicine star Lateasha Lunceford, we knew our cups would runneth over.
Sweet Tea had a shaky introduction to the group in Season 10, but her sophomore season has been all about finding her groove as she navigates the unusual circumstances of this social circle. Obviously, that process hasn’t been easy, so we wanted to hear more from her about what it’s been like to come into such a well-established friend group.
During our chat, Lateasha gave us a status update on her relationship with her castmates, and she revealed that she’s not thrilled about having to sit down for a reunion. Plus, the age-gap dating expert shared a few tips for scoring a guy like Dr. Gregory Lunceford for yourself. Keep on reading for our deep dive with Sweet Tea.
Lateasha is still finding her place in the M2M friend circle
Joining a reality show that’s been on for a decade isn’t easy. Joining a reality show where your husband’s ex-wife is a full-time cast member? That is next-level chaos, but Lateasha is braving through it one episode at a time.
“I’m getting in the groove. I think that it was difficult coming into it, but I’m starting to get to know the ladies a lot more,” she told us.
In Season 11, we’ve seen her making new connections in the group. At the beginning of the season, she joined forces with Dr. Contessa Metcalfe and Phaedra Parks to plan a glamping trip in Florida. However, she said that it just isn’t super easy to make connections with some of the OG cast members. We’re not naming names!
“The OGs, they do have a pact,” Sweet Tea explained. “They have their own pact, they have their own alliance, and it’s very clear. If you notice, it’s kind of hard to keep new people around.”
With that said, she made it clear that she wasn’t going to be intimated or iced out. While she’s still unsure about going to the Season 11 reunion, she reminded us that her husband will always have a genuine connection to the group. Being in the mix with these women isn’t just because of Bravo.
Lateasha explained, “Gregory has been friends with a lot of their husbands over the years. He has a relationship with them, at least with the men, so it only makes sense for us. He ain’t going nowhere, and I ain’t going nowhere.”
A reluctant “truce” with Dr. Heavenly
This season, one of Lateasha’s biggest obstacles has been her ongoing feud with Dr. Heavenly Kimes. The two traded barbs on social media, and in the Season 11 premiere, Sweet Tea threatened her with a lawsuit. The husbands even got involved. It’s been a mess.
Ahead of the couples’ trip to Key West, the ladies wound up having an off-camera conversation, where they seemed to bury the hatchet. However, Sweet Tea still seemed hesitant about letting her guard down with Heavenly.
“I wouldn’t say we squashed our beef,” Sweet Tea admitted. “I just think that Heavenly is going to do unheavenly things, and I’m going to go on about my business.”
Since the beef isn’t necessarily squashed, we tried to find a word to describe the current state of things. We landed on the word “truce,” even though that phrasing came with some reluctance from Tea.
“We can call it that,” she conceded.
Lateasha’s tips for age-gap dating
Outside of the drama with the ladies, one of Sweet Tea’s highlights this season was her age-gap speed dating event. She also teased how she had been teaching classes for women interested in finding partners outside of their age bracket. We couldn’t help but ask for more about this. Are they accepting enrollments?
“I did teach a class during the season, and it wasn’t about being a gold digger,” she clarified.
Lateasha told us that she started dating older men when she was around 25. After graduating college, she realized the men her age just weren’t as established as her. She needed someone who could match her place in life.
“I want a man that is ready to love, and I went where I was celebrated,” she explained.
With that in mind, we needed to know a few tips for the aspiring age-gap dater. How does someone go about getting a Dr. G of their own?
“Just be yourself and be true to yourself,” Sweet Tea shared. “Put your best self forward. Wear something pretty and nice and colorful. Men are visual.”
She continued, “When you speak to them, make sure to talk about things that you want to do and put them in it because they’re visual. They’re imagining themselves in your life. You are the experience.”
Married to Medicine continues on Bravo every Sunday at 9/8c.
