Lisa Vanderpump Breaks Silence on James Kennedy Arrest: ‘He Didn’t Hurt’ Ally Lewber

Trigger Warning: This article contains a discussion of domestic violence charges.

Right now, Lisa Vanderpump is moving forward with the Vanderpump Rules reboot. However, she hasn’t turned her back on James Kennedy. Lisa has always been in James’ corner, dishing out tough love during his sobriety journey. Now she is finally weighing in on James’ arrest for allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend, Ally Lewber.

James was arrested on December 11, 2024. Both Ally and James attended Kathy Hilton’s Christmas party earlier that evening. He was arrested for “domestic battery upon spouse/co-habitant.” According to the police report, “Female stated that her boyfriend lifted her up and threw her to the ground.” That certainly sounds like it would hurt. In the end, James didn’t face any charges.

However, Ally did break up with James. She posted a message on her Instagram Story. “We had an argument outside of his home related to him drinking again, however, I was not physically hurt,” Ally wrote. “We are no longer together, but I’ll always support James and wish him the best with his sobriety and healing.”

Meanwhile, Lisa stayed silent and was called out by Nick Viall for not commenting on the incident. Finally, Lisa is sharing her thoughts about James’s arrest. “I have spoken to James and to Ally at great length,” Lisa told US Weekly. She added that she couldn’t “drop the ball on somebody that I’ve supported and has had a troubled time.”

“The first [and] most important thing for me was [to know] what happened exactly. I didn’t need to just hear from James,” Lisa explained. “I needed to hear from Ally, too, from her mouth what happened. She told me categorically he didn’t hurt her.” Lisa added, “He never hurts her. They were both drinking.” He never hurts her, what an odd thing to say.

Then Lisa gave her version of what allegedly happened the evening of James’ arrest. The couple was “both being ridiculous and arguing” and someone called the police.

“She basically said, ‘Oh yes, take him away. It’ll teach him a lesson.’ But no, he didn’t hurt her categorically,” Lisa stated. “She regrets what happened with how this blew up.” I love LVP, but why would Ally lie to the police about what happened? And there have been rumors about James’ temper swirling for years. I feel like James is getting a pass here.

In addition, Lisa admitted that she was worried about James because he was drinking again. Lisa stated, “I’ve been very honest and said, ‘James, you should never have another drop in your life.’ So was I concerned? Yes.” According to James, he has been sober since his domestic violence arrest.

And Lisa also shared that Ally and James are still in contact. “A lot of people [say] it’s none of your business anymore, they’re not on [Vanderpump Rules]. But it is my business because I brought him to the forefront,” Lisa said. “I’ve always cared very much.”

Vanderpump Rules is streaming on Peacock.
