Harry Hamlin is answering the scathing review of his jarred tomato sauce by Real Housewives of New York alum Bethenny Frankel. And he’s not afraid of staying true to himself and saying how he really feels about the feedback.
Harry, husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Lisa Rinna, founded his jarred sauce line Harry’s Famous in 2024. Lisa had mentioned on RHOBH that he could make a great spaghetti sauce and he ran with the suggestion. He even famously made bolognese sauce for Garcelle Beauvais’ birthday.
Harry Hamlin is unbothered by Bethenny’s opinion and will continue being himself
He and Lisa sent a sample of his sauce to Bethenny. And her honest review made headlines.
On TikTok, Bethenny famously tried the Rosemary Red Wine sauce. And the Skinnygirl mogul did not hold back. She said that the sauce tasted like “eating a glass of not-great red wine.” She made a face like she ate a sour lemon and went on to share how she did not like the sauce.
“I don’t like that,” she said. “It tastes like vinegar or wine or something.”
She went on to suggest that Harry go back to the drawing board since times are hard and running a business is not easy. She recommended he try another flavor.
Neither Harry nor Lisa said anything about Bethenny’s frank assessment at the time, despite usually being quite forthright. However, the Mayfair Witches star did have some subtle shade for the former housewife recently. He told DailyMail in an interview that taste is a personal thing.
“I’m a huge fan of Bethenny’s, and all I can say is that taste is a personal thing,” Harry said. “Some people have good taste, some people have bad taste. But you know, there’s no accounting for it, right?
Harry adds that he appreciates “anything and everything” but is sticking by his sauce. “If somebody gives us a try, if you like it, you like it. If you don’t, hey, buy something else.”
And for those who do like it, and there are many, Harry is coming out with a second variant — Spicy Tarragon Vodka. He shared that Lisa loves it and puts it on everything not just pasta.
Fans of Harry (and his sauce) can see more of him cooking this May when his new show In the Kitchen premieres on AMC.
