The countdown is on for Alec Baldwin’s new reality show, and in the days ahead of the premiere, he and Hilaria Baldwin are doing a whole lot of talking. They’re doing so much talking that we’re not sure if there’s going to be anything left to see when The Baldwins premiere on TLC.
The lovebirds just did a full sit-down interview talking about what we’re going to see on their show. From their chaotic family life to how Alec narrowly avoided catching a manslaughter charge, they’re mentioning it all. Whether or not anyone cares? That’s a different story.
Alec and Hilaria Baldwin are TLC’s newest reality stars
Ironically, People dropped what they called a “rare” interview with the Baldwin family ahead of the premiere of their reality show. While the show was in production, the word on the street was that Alec was a nightmare. Supposedly, he didn’t quite grasp the concept of reality TV. In this interview, Hilaria was working overtime to prove that their show would still be worth watching.
“Telling your story is one thing, and showing your story is something else,” Hilaria said of the filming experience. “It felt authentic, it felt human. It felt very empowering.”
Hilaria and Alec have seven kids, and she initially wanted to show off their chaotic family dynamic to the world. She felt compelled to showcase how she balances the hectic demands of motherhood, all while speaking with that signature Bostonian accent.
As you probably know, things took a dark turn because Alec accidentally shot a woman dead on the set of his movie Rust. They filmed their TLC show in the aftermath of the shooting. For some reason, that didn’t bother Hilaria one bit.
“It was an opportunity for us to actually speak. It was a really safe space,” she told the outlet. “And I think it was also very cathartic, almost like a diary, during a very unsure time of our life. That felt both terrifying and like it could get us through day by day.”
Although the charges were eventually dismissed, Alec faced up to 18 months in prison for the killing. Hilaria said they’re living in “gratitude” after the ordeal, and they’re ready to use their reality show to broadcast to the world how they leaned on each other.
“I don’t know where I would be if I didn’t have her,” Alec claimed. “I don’t know what would’ve happened to me.”
The Baldwins premieres on Sunday, February 23 at 10/9c. on TLC.
