Erin Lichy and the rest of The Real Housewives of New York cast are currently in limbo. Bravo executives have not confirmed their return and also issued a casting call for Season 16. This is two seasons into what was supposed to be a revamped and refreshed group of ladies.
It can’t be easy to pull off a successful season on reality TV, especially if your friendship with the other members is manufactured for consumption purposes. And if it does happen that people get fired, perhaps it’s time to reflect on the time spent there. Certainly, Erin has spoken on the challenges of being a reality TV star. And she shared her musings on why she joined the series in the first place.
Erin Lichy explained how friendships get “broken down”
Erin recently gave an exclusive interview to Time Out New York, in which she discussed being unprepared for what reality TV was really like. The Mezcalum co-founder also pointed to confessional interviews as being the cause of so many conflicts within the current RHONY cast.
“I didn’t know what to expect when I signed on. I just went into it blindly. The experience is interesting and unlike anything that I can compare it to. You have deep connections with people on the show and then they are broken down into pieces by episode. It’s a very interesting environment that you have to live through to understand,” she explained.
Indeed, there’s something to be said about all the drama that builds externally. The cast members pop off on their social media or in interviews. And then have to face their costars at the reunion. Then there are the confessional interviews, which sometimes cause more drama.
“All these things happen when you are face-to-face with someone but then they happen again when you re-watch the episodes and that factors into your friendships,” Erin said.
The Real Housewives of New York Season 15 is now streaming on Peacock.
