Does anybody else remember when Kelsea Ballerini was randomly on Southern Charm? This was long before she became a Grammy-award-nominated country music superstar. She showed up at a charity auction in Season 2 and placed a bid to go on a date with Craig Conover. It was an unexpected crossover, and apparently, Kelsea had no idea what she was walking into that day.

Kelsea recently appeared on Cosmopolitan’s Cheap Shots when she was asked about her cameo in Southern Charm Season 2. She took a minute to spill all of the tea about what really went down, and unfortunately for Craig, the whole thing was a big setup.
“Oh god, it haunts me forever,” Kelsea said about her brief pop-up on Bravo.
“I was on [a] radio tour and I was doing a show for the radio station on a boat and they were filming Southern Charm on the boat,” Kelsea recalled.
At the time, Kelsea’s biggest focus was getting her music out into the mainstream. She was just a young, aspiring singer, and she had no idea that her publicist was pulling strings behind the scenes to get her a little bit of camera time on Bravo.
“Little did I know, my publicist set up the fact that I was going to bid on a date. I didn’t know,” she explained. “I get pushed into the frame … bid it, got the date.”
In the episode, Kelsea was grinning ear-to-ear when she got the date, but in real life, the date never happened. She also confirmed that she didn’t put any of her own money up on the auction. The whole thing was all orchestrated by that savvy little publicist.
“They auctioned [the date] off on the radio station for charity,” Kelsea continued. “Some winner from the radio station got it.”
We can’t help but fantasize about a world where Kelsea and Craig did go on that date. Can you imagine how differently things could have turned out? However, Kelsea seems to have zero regrets about skipping out on that opportunity. She’s happily in love with actor Chase Stokes.
“Yeah, everything is great as it turned out,” she told the outlet.
