During Season 9 of The Real Housewives of Potomac, Grande Dame Karen Huger, avoided discussing her DUI, and didn’t take accountability. In December 2024, Karen was convicted of driving under the influence and several other charges. Now she has been sentenced to two years in jail, with one year suspended. Plus, she cannot drive for one year following her release, and must pay $2,900 in fines. Her friend and RHOP co-star, Gizelle Bryant, is speaking out about Karen’s future in jail.
Gizelle Bryant says that Karen Huger “ain’t cut out for jail”

Ahead of her sentencing, Karen’s attorneys filed a motion, claiming that Karen’s behavior was the result “of a combination of alcohol and a prescribed anti-depressant medication for depression.” Now that Karen will be in jail for one year, her future on Potomac is uncertain. However, fans have seen other Bravo stars return to a franchise after serving jail time. Shout out to Teresa Giudice on Real Housewives of New Jersey …
Well, Gizelle was surprised by Karen’s sentence. According to US Weekly, Gizelle shared her thoughts during her 21 Shady Questions Live event at City Winery. “I am shook. This just happened today. I do not have her wigs,” Gizelle stated. “I am concerned. In all seriousness, I am concerned for her safety. Karen ain’t cut out for jail.” She added, “I pray that she’s OK and that the Lord is with her.”
Previously, Gizelle explained her complicated feelings ahead of Karen’s sentencing. “It’s sad. It really is sad. I mean, do I want to see her go to jail? Absolutely not,” Gizelle said. “But do I want to see her take accountability? For sure.” She continued, “So, I don’t know. I mean, Karen going to jail, that would break my heart. So we’ll see.”
In addition, Gizelle felt that Karen should have entered rehab sooner. “I think she should have done it – gone to rehab – right after the accident. I think it actually would have helped her with her case,” Gizelle stated.
Well, we will have to stay tuned to see if Karen will make a Bravo comeback.
Real Housewives of Potomac continues Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo.
