Reactions are still pouring in over Karen Huger’s DUI sentencing. Now, the bossman himself has weighed in. Andy Cohen recently shared his thoughts on Karen’s one-year prison sentence. Just like the rest of us, the news was tough for him to hear. No one could have imagined that the Grande Dame of The Real Housewives of Potomac would end up behind bars.
Andy Cohen feels “so sad” over Karen Huger’s sentencing
Last week, a judge hit Karen with one year behind bars for the drunken car accident that totaled her Maserati. It was a tough pill to swallow, and Gizelle Bryant said she had been texting back and forth with Andy once the news dropped. However, he shared a few more thoughts during the Monday, March 3 episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live. He’s been thinking of Karen “every day” since her sentencing.
“I’ve been thinking about her a lot and I’m so sad about this,” Andy admitted. “I’m so sad about how this entire thing has played out.”
He added, “I am a Karen fan. Drunk driving is no joke. It’s so bad, so that this was her fourth situation was tough to hear and I’m not surprised that the judge was not playing, you know?”
In Part 3 of the RHOP Season 9 reunion, we learned that Karen rejected a plea deal that would have avoided jailtime altogether. With that in mind, Andy had a lingering question about the lawyers in the case. Why on Earth did they let this spiral out of control?
Andy asked, “Who were her lawyers that were recommending to go to trial on this when they knew there was body cam footage like that?”
There were missteps every step of the way in this case. At this point, don’t be surprised if it comes out that she found her lawyer on Craigslist. Either way, we all have the former Grande Dame in our hearts during this difficult time.
The Real Housewives of Potomac is streaming on Peacock.
