Going for the Mirrorball Trophy isn’t for the faint of heart. According to Kaitlyn Bristowe, she is still recovering from Dancing with the Stars Season 29! The Bachelor Nation alum won the show in the fall of 2020 with Artem Chigvintsev as her partner. However, she’s still feeling pain from an injury she sustained in the process.
Kaitlyn Bristowe cracked her ribs on DWTS
The former Bachelorette recently spoke to Us Weekly about her successful run on DWTS. She said winning the Mirrorball Trophy was a big achievement, despite the physical toll it took on her body.
“Winning Dancing With the Stars [was my proudest moment] because I still have injuries from that, and that was, like, three years ago now,” Kaitlyn reflected.
She added. “My ribs are still cracked and I still get out of bed, like, ‘Ugh.’ But, it was worth it. I got the Mirroball.”
Of course, Kaitlyn isn’t the first person to injure themselves on DWTS, and she certainly won’t be the last. Sprained ankles and broken bones come with the territory.
“It’s way more work than people think it is,” Kaitlyn recalled. “It’s eight hours a day in a studio [and] it’s a grind and it’s really hard on the body.”
Although Kaitlyn still wakes up in pain from her time on DWTS, she said it felt worth it because it was such a major personal victory. It helped her overcome a case of imposter syndrome. Plus, who doesn’t love a shiny trophy?
“I grew up wanting to be a dancer and I wasn’t good enough,” Kaitlyn confessed. “And at 25, I had to quit and I was, like, so lost in life. I didn’t have a job, I didn’t have education, I didn’t have anything. I tried to chase a boy and I was like, ‘I have nothing.’”
The Bachelorette alum continued, “So to come full circle and believe in myself 10 years later as a dancer and win the mirrorball and work so hard to get there, it was a beautiful full-circle, proud moment for me that I didn’t have imposter syndrome.”
Dancing with the Stars is streaming on Disney+.
