The 1992 blockbuster “The Bodyguard” remake is in the works, and Taylor Swift is a preferred choice of Tyra Banks. The new version will reportedly be directed by “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” director Sam Wrench. Banks, who appeared on the latest segment of “Today with Jenna & Friends,” feels that Swift’s involvement can make “The Bodyguard” remake a successful venture.

Tyra Banks recently served as the guest co-host of “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” alongside Jenna Bush Hager. At one point, the 51-year-old supermodel brought up the speculated remake of “The Bodyguard.” She expressed her excitement for the film, stating that it is everything. The duo then discussed the potential casting for the movie, with Banks finding Swift the ideal choice for “The Bodyguard” reboot. For the unaware, the original film revolves around a female musician being protected by her bodyguard, leading to a passionate love story.
She explained, “I think Taylor Swift, ’cause business and commerce, art and, you know, she would freakin’ sell like crazy.” Banks added, “But, okay, I’m just gonna be real, I’m a Black girl, it was Whitney Houston as a Black girl, Kevin Costner as a White man.” The former Victoria’s Secret Angel also decided to add actor and rapper Idris Elba opposite Swift, contrary to the original film, showcasing the love story of a black woman and a white man. She expressed, “What if we flipped it and it was Taylor Swift and Idris Elba?… Hot!”
Taylor Swift and Idris Elba have previously collaborated on two projects. The actor’s voice from an interview was sampled in Swift’s 2019 album “Lover” song “London Boy.” In the same year, the duo worked together on the musical fantasy “Cats.” Elba also showed praise for the singer, recalling his experience working with her in the film. He told Variety, “Taylor was great. Her and I had a lot of work to do together, and she was amazing. She worked hard and was just happy to be there.”
While Banks has given her choice, it will be interesting to see whether Taylor Swift will eventually star in “The Bodyguard” reboot.
