West Wilson on His Dating Show: ‘Excited To Dip My Toes Into Something New’

He may have broken Ciara Miller’s heart on Season 8 of Summer House, but now West Wilson is playing the field on YouTube channel Complex. The show will feature him dating various female celebrities, including “Hawk Tuah Girl” Haliey Welch.

West, who is currently a sports, social, and editorial producer for Complex Networks, will challenge the women to competitive dates. In addition to getting to know each other, they’ll talk about the difficulty of being single in the public eye on West Date Ever.

“The dates are, like, kind of gimmicky and cute,” West tells Page Six. “And there’s food and games and all that kind of stuff.”

West claims he learned from the experience of making the show. He found that he was able to “relate to things both good and bad” with his guests, as they have also experienced living in the public eye. Everyone he has met has been through “trial and error” while “trying to figure things out and learn as we go.”

“No one knows what the right thing to do is, and people are learning day by day,” he confesses. “I think that’s something that I’ve picked up on … We think everyone knows exactly what they’re doing, but none of us actually do.”

“I’m just excited to dip my toes into something new, which I love to do,” he continues. “I’m just really excited about this, and hopefully, people like it.”

Getting more comfortable dating on camera

West’s first date finds him fishing in Tennessee with Haliey. She became an Internet sensation in June when she coined the phrase “hawk tuah” while discussing oral sex in a viral TikTok video.

“It was fun going on a little day date with Haliey,” he shares. “She got thrown into the spotlight almost against her will, so I wanted to make sure she knew I wasn’t there to beat her viral meme over everyone’s heads … Everyone has a story, and I wanted to get to know more about her and help her leave ‘Hawk Tuah’ in the past, you know?”

Haliey admits in the episode that her day out with West was “one of the best dates” she’s ever had because the Summer House alum is such a “real nice guy” who “genuinely wants to get to know you.”

For his part, West admits he’s become much more comfortable being in front of the cameras since his disastrous summer romance with Ciara in 2023. Their relationship seemed to have potential over the summer but ultimately ended (badly) after production wrapped last fall.

Despite their rocky reunion appearance in June, Ciara and West have been able to put their differences aside. They are both currently filming Season 9 of the popular Bravo show in the Hamptons.

“I’m always impressed with how natural things are [in the House],” West admits. “You always think it will be, like, a big, weird thing … and it’s just not. So, it’s great.”

Summer House Season 9 is expected to air sometime in early 2025.

West Date Ever premieres August 23 at 12 p.m. ET on Complex’s YouTube channel.
