John Garvin Weir, born on July 2, 1984, in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, is a prominent American television commentator and retired figure skater. Known for his expressive style and artistic flair on the ice, Weir’s career spanned two Winter Olympics (2006 and 2010), where he showcased his talent and charisma. Weir’s journey into figure skating began unexpectedly; initially an accomplished equestrian, he transitioned to skating at the age of 12. Under the guidance of coach Priscilla Hill, he quickly rose through the ranks, winning the 2001 World Junior Championship and becoming a three-time U.S. National champion from 2004 to 2006. His breakthrough came in 2006 when he became the first male skater since Brian Boitano to clinch three consecutive U.S. National titles. Internationally, Weir continued to excel, winning bronze at the 2008 World Championships and achieving success at the Grand Prix Final.
